ChoiceOne Bank Welcomes Sue Murphy, Adam Schlusler, Rob Onesko to Expanded Wealth Management Group

ChoiceOne Bank is pleased to welcome Susan (Sue) Murphy, Vice President and Trust Officer, Adam J. Schlusler, Vice President and Wealth Advisor and Robert (Rob) Onesko, Vice President and Private Banker into the Bank’s expanding Wealth Management Group.

“We are excited to welcome Sue, Adam and Rob to our Wealth Management Group,” said ChoiceOne CEO Kelly Potes. “With their extensive experience in wealth management, trust services and estate planning, they each bring tremendous resources to our expanding client base. Since we completed two significant bank consolidations – the consolidation of Lakestone Bank & Trust with and into ChoiceOne Bank in May 2020 and the consolidation of Community Shores Bank with and into ChoiceOne Bank in October 2020, our Wealth Management Group has experienced significant growth."

Susan (Sue) Murphy, Vice President and Trust Officer, joins ChoiceOne with 25 years of experience as a Trust Officer. Most recently she was a Trust Officer with TCF Bank (now The Huntington National Bank) for 13 years and a Trust Officer with The Huntington National Bank for 12 years. In addition, she was the Planned Giving Director for Porter Hills Foundation for six years and and for the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids for nearly two years.

Graduating from the University of Toledo, Murphy has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. She is also a graduate of the American Bankers Association – Trust School and the National Graduate Trust School at Northwestern University.

With a commitment to her community, Murphy has a vast history of serving. She was past Director of Western Michigan Estate Planning Council for three years, past Director of West Michigan Planned Giving Group for three years, past Director of Holland Home Foundation for six years, past Director of St. John Vianney Foundation for seven years and a volunteer at Crash’s Landing for two years.

 

Adam J. Schlusler, Vice President and Wealth Advisor, joins ChoiceOne with seven years experience in the financial services industry. Most recently, Schlusler served as Vice President and Senior Relationship Manager with The Huntington National Bank, where he was the lead relationship manager for high and ultra-high net worth clients and their families throughout Flint and the Great Lakes Bay Region. Prior to joining the financial services industry, Schlusler was a practicing attorney, focused on estate planning, probate, business and other litigation.

Schlusler holds a law degree from Michigan State University College of Law, and has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Legal Studies from Central Michigan University. Schlusler also has a License to Practice Law in Michigan, and has his Certified Trust and Financial Advisory (CTFA) designation offered by the American Bankers Association (ABA).

Active in his community, Schlusler is a Character and Fitness Committee Member for the State Bar of Michigan, a Trust Counsel Committee Member for the Michigan Bankers Association, a Board member of the Lapeer County Scholarship and Student Loan Fund, and Board Member, Finance Committee, Policy & Personnel Committee Member for Central Church of the Nazarene.

RobertOnesko_WMPRRobert (Rob) Onesko, Vice President and Private Banker, joins ChoiceOne with over 19 years of banking experience in wealth management, business banking, and retail banking, including multidisciplinary expertise in high net-worth banking, lending, mortgage, and trust. Most recently Onesko served as Senior Vice President and Business Development Officer at Citizens State Bank in Royal Oak, and prior to that as Vice President, Private Banker at Fifth Third Private Bank in Birmingham.

Onesko received both his Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance and his Bachelor of Science in Business Management with a minor in Human Resources from Oakland University, Rochester.

Serving his community, Onesko is a current Board Member of the Huntington Woods Men’s Club. He has previously served as United Way Captain from 2012 to 2019, Chair of the Berkley Downtown Development Authority from 2017 to 2018 and Charter Member of the Berkley Lions Club from 2013 to 2017.

The ChoiceOne Wealth Management Group is one area that has grown substantially with the consolidation of banks, the new scale, and an understandable need for family and business financial planning during these unprecedented times.
