ChoiceOne Bank Tim Shangle Honored with National ABA Emerging Leaders Council Appointment

ChoiceOne Bank is pleased to announce the appointment of Digital Channels and Marketing Officer Tim Shangle to the American Bankers Association (ABA) Emerging Leaders Council. The ABA is the voice of the nation’s $17.5 trillion banking industry, which is composed of small, regional and large banks that together employ more than 2 million people, safeguard $13.5 trillion in deposits and extend nearly $10 trillion in loans.

“We are extremely pleased for Tim to accept this national appointment to the ABA Emerging Leaders Council,” said ChoiceOne Bank Chief Operating Officer Adom Greenland. “Tim was chosen for this position because he has been recognized as an ‘accomplished and successful banking leader’ in our industry along with his involvement in our digital evolution at ChoiceOne Bank.”

ABA created the 22-member Emerging Leaders Advisory Board, composed of a diverse group of representatives from 21 states and banks of all sizes. The Board established six key priorities focused on attracting, connecting and developing the current and next generation of bankers to lead our industry while guiding ABA in the creation of new opportunities in leadership development, networking, mentoring and advocacy. The Council includes bankers from multiple states who represent banks of varied size, charter and geographic region. Council members are recognized for their state leadership, forward-thinking, energy and engagement and have been recommended to serve by their state association and ABA leadership.

“Tim’s real-world experiences are key to informing ABA’s work and ensuring its relevance to banks,” said ABA Emerging Leaders Advisory Board Chairman Jeffrey M. Szyperski.  “We are honored to have Tim join the 22 existing members of the Council to represent ChoiceOne Bank and Michigan, sharing his talents and unique perspective alongside some of the most talented and impressive young bank leaders across the country.”
