ChoiceOne Bank Continues Support, Commitment to LACADA

ChoiceOne Bank is pleased to once again support LACADA (Lapeer Area Citizens Against Domestic Assault) and commit to a $6,000 donation for the 28th Annual Taste of Lapeer, which LACADA will use for cost of operations.

The 28th Annual Taste of Lapeer fundraiser will be held on October 14 at the Lapeer Country Club. With having to cancel last year’s event, now, more than ever, LACADA needs the community’s help in making it a success. During the charitable event, guests can sample amazing delicacies from area restaurants while enjoying a fun-filled live auction that benefits LACADA.

Burke Jr.“As the local community bank, it has always been our philosophy that healthy communities start with healthy families,” said ChoiceOne President Michael J. Burke, Jr. “We continue to focus on helping the families in our communities with the resources they need including food, shelter and safety.

Unfortunately for many, safety is a major issue and we are forever grateful LACADA provides domestic violence emergency shelter for those families in need.”

For the past 30 years, LACADA, a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit, has provided support services and safe emergency shelter to women and children who were fleeing domestic violence in their homes. Since the shelter first opened its doors, LACADA has sheltered over 4,400 women & children. The past year has been difficult for everyone, but even more so for survivors of domestic violence who were isolated in unsafe environments with limited access to the support services they so desperately needed.

“We are always appreciative of the support and commitment ChoiceOne Bank has given us over the years,” said LACADA Executive Director Tracey Walker. “The Bank’s support goes all the way back to 2001, even with the name changes. ChoiceOne’s first sponsorship was in 2013 for $500. We started our sponsorships in 2011, and from 2014 ChoiceOne has been the Iron Chef Sponsor every year donating $41,500 over the years, in addition to buying tickets and donating auction items. ChoiceOne is definitely a community partner.”
